Macbeth
Guesten Hall, Avoncroft Museum

Macbeth is a tragedy by William Shakespeare about ambition, power, and guilt. After three witches prophesy that he will become King of Scotland, the brave warrior Macbeth is consumed by ambition. Urged on by his wife, Lady Macbeth, he murders King Duncan and seizes the throne. Haunted by guilt and fear, the couple descend into madness and tyranny. Macbeth’s rule is marked by paranoia and bloodshed, as he kills to secure his power. Eventually, he faces rebellion and is slain by Macduff, fulfilling the witches’ prophecy. The play explores how unchecked ambition leads to moral corruption and inevitable downfall.
Sleuth
Bromsgrove Artrix Studio
Wed 24 Jun to Sat 27 Jun
"Sleuth" is a 1970 play by Anthony Shaffer — a clever, darkly comic thriller about deception, rivalry, and revenge. The story follows Andrew Wyke, a wealthy, eccentric crime novelist, who invites his wife’s lover, Milo Tindle, to his country mansion. Wyke proposes an elaborate scheme to stage a fake burglary so Milo can “steal” the wife’s jewelry and fund their new life together — but it quickly becomes clear that Wyke has far more sinister motives. What begins as a game of wits turns into a deadly battle of trickery, with each man trying to outsmart and humiliate the other. The play is full of twists, disguises, and psychological manipulation, blurring the line between game and reality.
